TheCollector

Sonic Mania has already proved to be the most popular and critically acclaimed game in the franchise for some 20 years.

But collecting all seven of the chaos emeralds in the 3D UFO stages can be rather tricky. Particularly as locating the gold rings is tough enough, but guiding an ever-faster Sonic around a hazordous maze makes things rather frustrating.

But there is one location in the game where you can easily reach a gold ring and retry as many times as you wish.

The secret is to first complete the game without collecting all the emeralds. Once the game is finished, you are able to go back and attempt the levels in any order you like with all gold rings available for access again.

Now, select Studiopolis and play the start of Act 1, but don't go too far.

Easy Chaos Emeralds

Run down the first slope and you'll come across two rotating C-shaped collections of pinball bouncer. Climb the adjacent platform and once you are alongside the top of the bouncers, either spin dash to the left or take a run up to jump over them. Follow the path down to the left to find a gold ring which will provide you access to try for a chaos emerald.

Regardless of whether you are successful or not, once the stage is over you can safely exit and re-select Studiopolis again to retry with exactly the same gold ring.

Once you have mastered crossing the rotating bouncers, it's possible to retry a stage every 30 seconds meaning falling off the 3D arena is no longer such a pain.

Don't forget, you don't have to get to Mach 3 to catch the UFO. Some stages (including the last one) are designed with shortcuts so you can catch up to it much earlier.

Good luck!
