The amazing thing with the creativity behind LEGO is how any piece can be re-adapted to create completely new objects.

Often when building new sets, the designers at LEGO will re-use LEGO bricks in ways that make you wonder "why didn't I think of that?"

In the case of the LEGO Big Bang Theory set, this moment came when constructing a lamp for Sheldon's computer desk. Here a LEGO gun is used as the pipe between the base and the light. And it works really well.

The LEGO Big Bang Theory set is full of little touches like this, which is a bit of a relief as the rest of the set is a bit simple and ordinary.

The set comprises of the living room set from the show, with just two walls visible and seven minifigures. There's no kitchen, and there's no front door. But it is a smallish set. Let's talk a look in more detail.

The set includes an impressive SEVEN minifigures - one for each of the main characters of the TV show. Each of the minifigures has two expressions.

  • Sheldon is wearing his Flash t-shirt that he often wears on the show.
  • Leonard is wearing a hoodie with a recycled t-shirt.
  • Penny is wearing a pink top which is quite conservative for what she normally wears (hey, this is a kids toy!)
  • Howard is wearing a red shirt that is not very similar to his traditional red shirt - but his trousers are sporting a gamepad on his belt buckle which is pretty awesome. I actually thought Howard's head had a misprint on it when I first looked at it before I realised they had also printed his sideburns on the head.
  • Raj's minifigure is brilliant. The purple jacket looks awesome and his worried look is perfect.
  • Amy is wearing a green cardigan and has dual tone legs.
  • Bernadette is wearing a pink top with dual tone legs and a dotty skirt.

Although the prints for each of the characters' bodies are different, the legs for the original cast are fairly generic. Penny and Leonard are wearing the same colour trousers, as are Sheldon and Raj.

As we mentioned before, the 484 piece build itself is rather simple. The room consists of just two walls and the ground has a smooth tiled rug that covers part of the floor.

It's the small features that sit on the bookcases and on the desk that really make up the special parts of this build; and whether that matters to you is dependant on how much you love The Big Bang Theory itself.

With 7 minifigures and quite a lot going on inside the main build, the constructed set can feel quite crowded especially if you start to equip the characters with the included kitchen utensils.

If you're looking for an awesome house build with loads of awesome detail, then you'd be better off with the LEGO Simpsons house, or the LEGO Creator buildings.

But if you're a fan of The Big Bang Theory, then this is the set you've been waiting for.

  • Great nods to the show
  • Packed full of features
  • 7 minifigures
